Promoting Humanism in South West Hertfordshire

  • 16th November 2017

John Dowdle (WAH immediate past President) placed a wreath on the war memorial outside the Town hall in remembrance of all the Humanists who have died in conflicts. Unlike the national ceremony in Whitehall, the Watford ceremony was not at all religious.

We will start this session with a brief annual general meeting when we will elect members to the posts of President, Treasurer and Secretary. We also need to adopt a written constitution so as to comply with our Humanists UK Partnership agreement.

The AGM will be followed by reports of two recent talks:

    1. “Humanism in the age of Brexit and Trump” – Andrew Copson at Wendover Humanists on September 12th
    2. “The Hypocrisy of the Church of England” – Michael Lawrence at Harrow Humanists on September 13th

    Faith Schools Admission Cap

    (Watford Area Humanists)

The Government plan to scrap the 50% cap on religiously selective admissions schools.

We will compare GCSE/A-Level results at comparable religious and non-religious schools.
